Christina + Ashwanth | Indian Fusion Wedding, Dekoven Center | Racine, Wisconsin

Christina + Ashwanth | Indian Fusion Wedding, Dekoven Center | Racine, Wisconsin

With summer officially here, I thought it was only appropriate to feature a summer wedding full of color and fun! Christina and Ashwanth mixed American and Indian cultures seamlessly and created a unique and beautiful experience for their family and friends. I'll keep it short (because this might be a huge post with lots of images) but I hope this wedding fills you with happiness and gets you inspired for summer fun :)

Kristin + Alex | Sugarland Rustic Barn Wedding | Arena, Wisconsin

Kristin + Alex | Sugarland Rustic Barn Wedding | Arena, Wisconsin

I'm digging deep in my hard drives this week to feature a wedding from a few years ago! I've been traveling a lot lately and kind of missing home, so I thought it would be fun to feature a wedding that was more unique to Wisconsin! When anyone thinks of Wisconsin they immediately think of beer and cheese, but I love to think of the rolling hills that are dotted with beautiful red barns. Kristin and Alex chose one of those barns for their charming wedding venue!

Sugarland has a beautiful farmhouse for couples to get ready in, but then the barn is kind of a blank canvas for couples to make their own. Kristin and Alex chose beautiful rustic details to enhance the barn and give it even more character! My favorite detail though has to be the gorgeous combination of flowers in Kristin's bouquet.

Explore North Workshop 2017 | Two Bear Lake, Wisconsin

Explore North Workshop 2017 | Two Bear Lake, Wisconsin

I wanted to take a minute this week and share a little bit of our Explore North Workshop that we did a couple weeks ago!! This was the second year April and I hosted a workshop for photographers and this year we had the wonderful Emily join us as well to teach!

First, I have to just give a huge THANK YOU to those ladies and to all of the attendees, models, and creatives that helped to make this workshop a reality. I can't fully express what an incredible experience it is to host a workshop to not only learn and grow your business, but to just get away to relax, be inspired, and meet new friends!! We all drove to the middle of nowhere in northern Wisconsin and had a super fun and cozy week in our modern cabin!!

This year we did a styled elopement and an in-home couples portrait session! I've included some highlights below, but the highlight of the week for me was just getting to see everyone get excited and be inspired by their new surroundings and opportunities to shoot. I truly am humbled by this whole experience and can't wait to see what the future holds for more teaching opportunities :)

Pisgah National Forest Elopement | Asheville, North Carolina

Last week I took a little trip to visit my dear friend Lisa in North Carolina! Lisa and I met in photography school (check her out on Instagram) and we've been lucky enough to visit each other around the country. Recently Lisa and her family decided to set down some roots in Asheville, North Carolina and I can see why! Although it was still brown and winter while I was there, the rolling green mountains, hip vibe, and friendly people make it an ideal place to live.

Lisa was also kind enough to set up a little styled shoot for me while I was visiting! She found a super sweet couple, wardrobe, and drove me around to find a great location (although the Blue Ridge Parkway being closed most of the time didn't help). Our adorable couple, Allie and Tim, never had professional wedding photos so it was super fun to recreate some wedding day feelings and portraits for them!

Summer Wedding Inspiration | Madison, Wisconsin

Summer Wedding Inspiration | Madison, Wisconsin

With lots of inquiries coming in the last couple of weeks I know there are lots of newly engaged and excited couples just starting to plan their weddings. Like I tell all of my clients, there are just way too many choices when it comes to your wedding day, so it's important to first figure out your style and the type of wedding day that you've always envisioned. Having those clearly defined parameters will only help to speed up the process of making the overwhelming amount of decisions that comes with planning a wedding.

And I also thought I'd take a second to highlight what I thought was a cool and unique choice, different colors for your bridesmaids dresses! Kacie and Matt had a gorgeous summer day for their wedding, and the subtle hues and color accents just all blended so perfectly with the beautiful outdoor scenery. Having multiple colors that are all in the same hue, tone, etc can be a fun way to add more color and character to your wedding day!
